UAE travel: Emirates extends suspension of Iran flights until July 5
Customers connecting through Dubai to Iraq will be accepted for travel at their point of origin
DUBAI: Dubai’s flagship carrier Emirates has extended its cancellation of flights to and from Iran’s capital Tehran until July 5 due to the “regional situation”, it said in a statement on Saturday.
The airline said it will recommence operations to Baghdad on July 1 and Basra on July 2. Customers connecting through Dubai to Iraq will be accepted for travel at their point of origin.
But customers connecting through Dubai with final destinations in Iran will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice, it added.
“Customers impacted by flight cancellations must contact their travel agency for rebooking,” the statement stated. “The safety of our passengers, employees and operations will always be our top priority.”
The decision comes as Iran’s airspace remains closed for airlines despite a ceasefire with Israel that followed a 12-day conflict between the two countries.
According to Flightradar24, flight routes are returning to near-normal in the Middle East.
